LEANING
Finally, A Comfortable Posture for Standing Desks
Standing desks have been around since da Vinci first imagined his flying machine, and their health benefits are widely accepted in the scientific community, but they have one major downfall…
Standing. Though it’s a refreshing variation from sitting, most people don’t like standing either. Your fast-twitch muscles along your kinetic chain must continually fire to stay balanced– so you’re literally never relaxed. How can you focus if you’re never relaxed?
To this day, there has never been a good seating solution for standing desks.
Until Now– and We Have an entire product line.
From a high-end executive statement piece, to an entry-level chair mod perfect for anyone interested in leaning, we have the products that will open an entirely new market. Whether it’s home and office furniture, the medical field, or any industry where employees are standing at a station for short or long periods of time, our leaning products will change the game. And the best part is, you can experience them for yourself today.

A HEALTHY ALTERNATIVE
THE GOLDILOCKS POSTURE
Everyone knows by now that sitting for prolonged periods of time is wildly unhealthy– bad for your spine and joints, bad for circulation, bad in general if you want to live a long life. Current accepted alternate postures are limited to standing and perching.
Standing is good for intermittent breaks but there are reasons it’s not as popular as sitting.
- It puts more stress on your feet, ankles, knees, hips and spine going all the way up to the base of your skull. This is called your kinetic chain. People stand in preparation for mobility-not prolonged stability. This can cause fatigue, discomfort, pain and even potential health problems if prolonged.
- This constant activation makes it hard to relax. How can you focus on your work, game or creative project if you’re not relaxed? This is the biggest reason people continue to choose sitting over other alternate postures. They just want to feel relaxed.
Perching is another viable alternative and has produced a healthy niche market on its own. However, like standing, perching fails to gain the same mainstream popularity as sitting for several reasons.
- It’s not as comfortable. Though it does take weight off the lower half of your kinetic chain, a percher must maintain an upright posture without any back support. Again, this causes fatigue over time, like standing, making its usefulness short-lived.
- It requires another product. If you are really looking for the benefit of variable positions, you need both. And who wants a chair AND a perch? Where do you put the one you’re not using? Just push it off to the side? This is not an elegant solution and a major barrier. For most people the choice is binary, and they choose a chair, which is why perching has remained a smaller market.
- It’s unfamiliar. People have to be taught what perching is and how to do it. It doesn’t really exist in our natural day-to-day lives.
Leaning is essentially a hybrid posture between sitting, standing and perching, and it’s the best one– the Goldilocks Posture– for several reasons.
- Unlike standing, our leaner is reclined 5-10° and, unlike perching, it has back support. That takes weight off your entire kinetic chain, which makes it much more relaxing.
- It’s engaging. We call it the “vertical cockpit.” Sitting can lull you to sleep. Standing makes you tired. When you lean you feel both relaxed and connected. It requires some effort– which is good for blood flow, brain health, focus and creativity– but it’s much less effort than standing, making it a longer-lasting solution .
- It’s familiar. In fact, we do it all the time when given the opportunity. Standing in line next to a post? You’ll probably lean on it. How about at the airport gate? Against your countertop? In a bar? Cornered by an in-law at a party? You lean all the time. Why not while you work or game? Nobody needs to be taught how to lean. It’s natural.
ONE PRODUCT LINE. ALL THE POSTURES.
As amazing as leaning is, rotating between a variation of postures will always be the healthiest solution and sitting will always be an important option. However, like perching, nobody wants two or more products– nobody wants a chair AND a leaner/perch.
Well, what if I told you our line of leaning products also includes ALL THE POSTURES? That’s right, our leaners also allow you to sit, stand and perch. And our most recent innovation, the “Leaner Mod,” will turn almost any office chair into a leaner. So you don’t even have to buy a new chair. TRY IT TODAY.
GLOBAL IP PORTFOLIO
More than a good idea
It takes more than a good idea to turn a thought into a product. It takes time, an enormous amount of resources and talented attorneys to protect that IP– and that’s exactly what we have. Our team has created a comprehensive global IP portfolio encompassing an entire product line including peripherals and accessories. In short, we own the future of leaning.
Now, we are looking for a partner to help us bring these amazing ideas– proven by our prototypes and validated by industry leaders– to the contract and consumer market. If you sell office or gaming chairs, standing desks or other office furniture, and if you’re looking for next-level innovation to elevate your lineup, we could be the perfect fit.
Don’t take our word for it, though. Find out for yourself today while we are here at NeoCon.
A BRIEF HISTORY
The American Dream
I’ve always carved my own path. At a young age I quit my job and started a video production company. After years of production I transitioned into primarily post-production: design, editing, motion graphics, 3D and visual effects. Though I enjoyed working from home, it didn’t take long for me to realize the downside– too much sitting! So, like so many others, I got a standing desk. I loved it. But again, it didn’t take long for me to realize that I also didn’t like standing.
One day, I called out to my girlfriend– now my wife and mother of our two awesome kids– and I said, “I want to do this!” I was leaning against the wall. I went online to buy a leaner only to discover there was no such thing. So I invented it.
All these years later and leaning has been a vital part of my work, creative and gaming life. Now, I can’t imagine doing what I do without it. Leaning is the best posture. I lean anywhere between 40-80% of the time, rotating with sitting, and I always start my morning work with leaning. Who wants to go from the bed to a chair?
It’s also so much better for quick tasks. There’s a resignation when you sit, a gravity– you sink in and everything stops. If I just have to write a few emails or do something fast, I love to pop on my leaner, get it done, and be on my way.
I also love leaning for longer tasks, especially that require creativity and prolonged focus. The “vertical cockpit” keeps me engaged. Just like a chair, I can disappear into my work, totally absorbed. This is much harder when I’m standing or perching (I’m not much of a percher). I’m always aware that I’m standing, and that in itself is distracting. After a short time leaning you won’t even think about it. You’ll get it. And you’ll wonder why nobody thought of this sooner.
Leaning is the future. Try it for yourself today.

CLINICAL STUDIES PROVE LEANING IS HEALTHY
Earlier we talked about the health benefits of leaning. Here are just a handful of attributed articles to studies supporting that claim.
· Studies have shown that unsupported sitting increases lumbar disc pressure about 40% above upright standing.
· Individuals who develop low back pain in sitting or standing may benefit from hybrid sit-stand postures (like leaning or perching).
· Alternate between sitting, standing and leaning throughout the day. For example, one might start the day seated for focused morning tasks, then switch to a leaning posture for an hour to engage the body, then perhaps stand briefly or take a walk break. After lunch, leaning could be used again to ward off post-meal sluggishness, followed by another seated interval, and so on.
· Office workstation designs incorporating supported movement (like leaning) may represent a reasonable trade-off in the costs-benefits between sitting and standing
